Consultation, fees, and policies · Please read this first
Before we begin, two things you should know.
You must be physically in Texas during our sessions, since that's where I'm licensed. And all of my therapy is online, by secure video. If you need in-person care, or you live outside Texas, I'm not the right fit, and I'd rather you find that out here than after a phone call. A few other situations call for in-person care too, and I cover those here.
A free consultation first
I offer a free 10 to 15-minute consultation over the phone, so you can get a sense of whether we're a good match. If you're coming as a couple, I have a brief conversation with each of you. It's also my chance to decide whether I'm the kind of therapist you need.
To set one up, send a note through the secure form below with your name, your phone number, and a couple of good times to reach you. I'll call you.
Rates
During your phone consultation I'll tell you the cost of each therapy session. If, as therapy progresses, we decide together that a particular assessment would help, you'll know its cost in advance.
Reduced fees. Most people understand it's going to take more than a few sessions to reach their goals. So I offer 5 to 10 percent off every session when you purchase a package of 5 or 10 sessions up front. Ask, and I'll email you the Payment Options handout.
Insurance
I no longer work with insurance companies in any way. Over time I found that clients with high deductibles were paying out of pocket anyway, while filling out forms and handing over personal information that could affect them down the road.
So my practice is private pay. You pay me directly for the care you receive, with no insurance middleman between you and your counselor. It keeps your records private, keeps care affordable, and closes the gap between the two of us.
Cancellation policy
If you can't make a session, please let me know at least 24 hours ahead. Without that notice, or if you don't come to a scheduled session, you'll be charged the full session fee.
Your appointment time is reserved for you, and 24 hours is what it takes for someone else to use it.
Payment
Payment is due at the time services are rendered. You'll give me your credit card information during the first session.
I accept American Express, Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and HSA cards.
What happens next
Once we've talked and decided to work together, I'll email you my intake documents. You read them, e-sign them, and send them back before our first session.
- Telehealth counseling agreement
- Telehealth privacy measures for the client
- Communications policy
- Email and texting consent
- Informed consent for psychotherapy
- Notice of privacy practices
- Practice policies
- Intake questionnaire
Nothing to print. Everything is signed online and comes back to me through a secure channel.
Ready when you are.
Send a short note through my secure contact form with your name, phone number, and a couple of good times to call. That's all it takes to start. I'll call you for your consultation.
